Module 8 Case Study Assignment

Q Module 8Case Study Assignment Final Case Study Analysis Compare and contrast with the DSM-5 and the textbook about how the movie portrays behaviors consistently or inconsistently with the clinical disorder named. Remember to keep the following parameters in mind in this final case analysis: The title of the assignment does not necessarily capture an accurate diagnosis of the situation or cluster of symptoms. These are incomplete situations and you may decide to reference a different disorder in the DSM-5 than the one in the title or mentioned in the situation. This is to reflect the reality of the presentation of disorders in a real clinical setting. Most clients and patients enter a clinical setting with a general idea or label/name for what they are experiencing. It may be clinically relevant or may be clinically incorrect. With clinical information being almost immediately accessible due to the Internet and other forms of education (e.g., social media), much of a clinical interview requires corrective teaching or curious investigation about what the words being used actually represent and symbolize in behavioral presentation and sensation. This may be confusing or feel clear cut, depending on the situation and your own learning. The assignment is not to diagnose but to identify symptoms and behaviors that may lead to a diagnosis. Diagnosis is beyond your current level of learning and beyond your ethical capacity as a student without a license and without operating under someone with a license. Instead, we will be identifying behaviors or possible symptoms, not disorders, in these activities. Pick from one of the following three movie/media depictions of named clinical disorders: Cases for Analysis Case #1: PTSD in Iron Man 3 Case #2: OCD in The Aviator Case #3: Bipolar Disorder in The Silver Linings Playbook Questions to Answer: • What are your initial thoughts and what are follow up questions that you would ask to clarify the diagnostic picture? • What are ethical considerations that are relevant to the case and might impact the situation identified? • What are the observable markers, as defined by the DSM-5, that are found in the presented information? Answer each question as completely as possible. Your submission should conform to APA guidelines in the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.). Include at least 2 scholarly references in addition to the course textbook. The CSU Global Library is a good place to find these references. The clip has rightly shown the condition called PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Most people who go to war and are exposed to violence for a long period of time are suffer from this condition. The central character in this movie, Tony Stark AKA Iron Man has also survived a devastating bomb blast and came back to his country. But the horrific memories are still making a deep impact on him. My initial thoughts revolve around the fact that it is difficult to lead a normal daily life when you are suffering from PTSD. The follow up questions that I am going to do in this regard would be- a) For how long the symptoms are being observed? b) What are the trigger points?
